Practice Facilities at Headfort Golf Club

Headfort Golf Club offers a wide range of practice facilities to help members and visitors sharpen every part of their game, from full shots to putting, chipping, bunkers and wedge play.

Main Practice Facility

Our new main practice facility opened in early March 2026 following a number of years in development.

The facility is over 300 yards long and 150 yards wide, providing an excellent space for long-game practice. Access is through a gated entrance, with the access code available from the Golf Shop.

The teeing area is 50 metres wide and includes an all-weather teeing area for year-round use. A 1,000 square metre grass tee is also in place and is scheduled to open for play in June 2026.

The facility includes a ball dispenser powered by GolfNext software. Users can download the GolfNext app, create an account, add funds, and purchase range balls directly through the system. Payment is also available via debit/credit card at the dispenser or the Golf Shop can text you a code if purchased at the Golf Shop.

Short Wedge Area

The short wedge area, located on the driveway into the club, opened for play in 2023.

This area includes four green targets ranging from 30 to 120 yards, making it ideal for improving wedge distance control and short approach shots.

There are four all-weather mats, and all shots must be played from these mats only. Hitting from the grass is strictly prohibited.

For safety reasons, balls must only be hit in the direction away from the clubhouse.

Old Course Putting Green

The Old Course putting green is located adjacent to the short wedge area.

This area is for putting only. Chipping or pitching onto this green is not permitted.

Short Game Chipping Green

At the end of the car park, members and visitors can use the short game chipping green.

This area is ideal for practising a variety of chip shots and bunker shots. It now includes two newly developed bunkers, completed as part of the Old Course bunker redevelopment project during Winter 2025/26.

Championship Course Putting Green

A further putting green is located beside the 1st tee on the Championship Course, providing a convenient warm-up area before play.
